Langley Good Times Cruise letter from the President!

Welcome to the Cruise-In.

As the new President, I cruise in the shadow of the past President, Riccardo, who did such a great job for many years and we owe him many thanks. I look forward to helping this year’s show to be as good as or better than it has ever been. We have a few new board members aswell as our returning members who have selflessly volunteered to give of themselves to help bring this show to fruition.

I invite you all to come to our show in 2013. It is a great show put on by the efforts of manyvolunteers who offer up their services because of the noble cause. This show has one primary aim, and that is to raise money for local charities. You can go to a page on the website which lists and links to each of the charities and I encourage you to look at them and understand their value in our community. It is this charity aspect which attracts our great group of volunteers.

We will have many great sponsors who will support the show, a lot of vendors who will bring wares to the show for viewing and sale, and of course we will end up with a huge number of car owners who bring out their toys to show to the public. All of those people and companies contribute money that will be donated, and we want to remind each and every person that reads this or comes to the show that we will give you the opportunity to assist in this fundraising too. There is a place on the website where you can make a donation (you don’t have to have a car in the show to donate), and we will have opportunities at the show for you to contribute cash to the cause. Remember, we are all volunteer, there is none that goes to overhead because we do not have payroll or fixed expenses that saddle the event with great costs. We raise money and donate it to local charities, nothing more!

I want to thank all the participants and attendees to past (and future) shows for their enthusiasm and continued support. It is the crowds of people that create the buzz, the electric glow of excitement starting Friday night before the show and continuing right through the whole show. We encourage you to come and we encourage you to give to our fundraiser as you can. Together we can make our community a better place.

The LANGLEY GOOD TIMES CRUISE-IN started in 1997 with a small group of merchants and business people from the City of Langley. The event has grown from 430 vehicles registered in 1997 to 1,532 registered vehicles in 2002. Even in a cold, wet day in 2000 saw over 1200 vehicles come out to support the event. The "Cruise - In" has become one of the largest mixed car shows in Canada and one of the Top 10 in North America according to Dennis Gage of My Classic Car. The event is quickly gaining an International reputation, drawing cars and spectators from across Canada and the United States.
